A little inspiration...

I am sporting a recently acquired pair of J Brand Lovestory Jeans today and looking for a little inspiration to top them off with.  Check out these awesome finds at Mod Cloth...there are plenty of things there to inspire a new look!

Going to the chapel...

My little brother is getting married this weekend, so it has had me thinking about what to wear to a summer wedding.  I love the bold colors of the dresses I have come across this summer. I am in the wedding, so my attire is not a concern, but if I were dress shopping for a summer wedding, here are a few dresses I would check out! What is your summer go-to wedding outfit?

I love the draping and simplicity of this dress (Max Studio)

This dress is not for the wall flower. (Piperlime)

Simple cut and great colors (Milly)

The versatility, color options and the price make this dress a sure bet! (Urban Outfitters)

The unexpected way this fabric is put together is so unique and really flattering (Nordstrom)

ZARA, I am sorry I took you for granted

During my college summers, I worked just a few stores away from ZARA and I had NO IDEA what I was missing.  With ZARA's wide variety and cool European sensibility, you were there and I did not take advantage of you!  They still do not have online shopping in the US (tear), but there are rumors it may be coming. If you have a chance to visit one, GO (and call me, seriously...I may send you a few orders)!
Here are a few looks that are making me drool.

Vacation Style

The hubs and I are planning a getaway to California in a few weeks and I am trying to get my closet ready.  I tend to make these same mistakes when packing for a trip, so I am trying to learn from the past and plan ahead.

Here are the mistakes I always make:
-Trying to wear flats and not heals/wedges. My closet has been built around that extra 4" of height on my feet, so trying to build cute outfits around flats always ends up making me feel awkward and disheveled. So this time, I have two pair of very comfy and very cute wedges that I am taking instead of trying to make flats work.
-Just throwing in a few jackets and not planning layers for cooler weather.  While it is in the 90's here, it will be in the 60's there, so I am planning out my layers this time so I can stay warm and feel put together.
-Not dressing comfortably for the flight.  I always want to look cute when we get there, so I try to dress well for the flight.  This time I am planning to bring a carry-on with my outfit for the first day and will change when we land and get settled.
-I always forget to pack accessories; they really can make an outfit!
-Finally, it really matters a lot less what I wear and a lot more that I have a great week building memories with my man!  So regardless of what I bring or what I forget, it is really all about the time we spend together.

What are your vacation packing rules?

Here is one outfit that is making the trip with me...one down five to go!

a well-dressed man

I am lucky to have a hot husband who looks good in just about anything! Sometimes I come home from a shopping trip with new things for him and nothing for me :).  He has great style and while I at times want to take credit for it, I really should not, he is stylish all on his own!  Here is a peak into what he loves in his closet!

Banana Republic crisp button-down, these are a closet staple (Banana Republic)

Great jeans; right now his favorites are these Jagger jeans from Citizens of Humanity (Revolve Clothing)

Preppy summer shorts...these red ones from J. Crew are almost worn out (J. Crew)

A well-fitted suit.  My man loves a suit and looks pretty good in one-if I may say so.  This one from Banana Republic fits like it was made just for him! (Banana Republic)

We are always on the hunt for a great tie to complete the look! (J. Crew)

season for deals, but...

Right now the sale racks are stocked and ready!  It is a great time to stock up on some pieces that will be perfect for fall (and some can even be worn now)...but on the way back to the sale rack, you pass some fabulous new pieces for summer!
Bright colors and dresses and sandals!  The key to post-season sale shopping it is stay focused and stick to the basics! Here are a few great sales pieces to inspire you to stay focused on the sale rack!

I am a jacket girl, and I love the sequins on this one! (Loft)

Classic skirt, perfect for Spring and Fall  (J Crew)

Orange light-weight sweater...would be great with jeans now and later (Anthro)

Love the color on this simple leather jacket (Nordstrom)

back to school shopping

As a kid, I LOVED back to school shopping, specifically shopping for school supplies. Then getting all of my new notebooks, pens and highlighters organized and ready for a new year. If you know me, this probably does not surprise you at all.

I am drooling over the desk accessories at iomio, and I think you will too! Here is just a sneak peak.

pretty and preppy

I love the preppy summer look, bright colors, crisp fabrics, polos.  Some may beg to differ, I don't think preppy ever goes out of style.
I love a polo...wish I had this twist on a classic from Tori Burch

Lilly Pulitzer-the ultimate preppy-lovers go to gal.

Lacoste + Malandrino = LOVE

My husband may believe I am too young for a tunic, but I beg to differ. Loving this Tori Burch.

How can you talk about preppy without the chino. The staple in every prepsters wardrobe. J.Crew

Classic style shorts from Tori Burch in a not-so classic print!

$2.76 + tax

That is what you would expect to pay for a cup of coffee or maybe an afternoon cookie right?  Well...guess what I got for $2.76 + tax....
Gap Perfect Bootcut Jeans (Black Wash)
I think this is be best deal I have EVER gotten.  I just had to wear them today!  They are super comfortable and perfect for my laid back office.

love 'em or hate 'em

White jeans are back for summer!  The hunt for white jeans takes the task of finding the perfect jean and quadruples it. Don't give up hope...the perfect pair is out there and when you find it, grab it quickly!  I love them paired with the current chambray top trend.  Simple and classic – add some wedges, messy beach hair, over-sized sunglasses and you are oh-so-chic and ready for that summer vacay!

Simple, classic from Gap. Always a "go-to" for me.

J Brand Lovestory Jeans-Love this fit in blue denim, now I want to try it in the white.

Love the pockets on these Hudson.

Love the little kick flare on these from Gap.

Skinny option from Tori Burch.

Classic and forgiving trouser-style from Loft.
